So once again we returned to the famous Einhoven Rock City, home of one of our favorite bands Peter Pan Speedrock!!! We of course love Holland, it always seems that everyone here loves to party, blow off their weekly steam, and have a good time. We played a new club called The Rambler, new to us of course, once again with our good friends the US Bombs. Last time we were in Einhoven it was also with the Bombs at SpeedFest. This club had a lot of band history. Tons of Band stickers everywhere!! I might be way off here but it kind of had that Larimer Lounge type of feel to it, you know a bit dingy, but still has class. We feel that this city will continue to grow for us and we need to keep coming back to improve on our draw. Thanks to all the fans who came out hopefully next time we can get up into Amsterdam as well. ROCK n ROLL!!
First off what a great looking venue. Nice huge stage, big hall, and the backstage was killer!!! Now from that how could it get any better right? Well all that was small in comparison to the meal that we were served a few hours later. The cooks name was Petra, one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. You can tell in just her presentation of the food that she really cares for the bands that come in. She did such a great job. There are a few places that stand out in my mind and now this one is right up there with them. Later that evening she even took the time to go through our rider with me to make it easier for us and the clubs that are receiving it. So thank you Petra for making it so nice for us and we look forward to playing in Fulda again soon. So on to the show, anytime you get the chance to play a big stage like that just makes me feel like I have more energy. Brent changed up the set a bit tonight and the fans are really liking the new songs that we have been playing for them. I constantly hear the question, "When is the new CD coming out?". We are really aiming for Nov. I think this a reachable goal if we get right into the studio when we get home. I'm extremely excited to get some new material out there. It would only be 2 1/2 years after our last record, which would be killer. Sorry I got a bit side tracked there. So to finish things up, Thanks again to Steph for hanging out with us, all the familiar fans and new ones that we meet here today. We had a great day and we hope to come back to Fulda to play and eat again. So I'm writing this a day late, but as the old saying goes--better late than never. Some days with how busy we are it is hard for me to get the thought from my hand to the paper. Anyway, we played a club called the Schwartz Adler. The club was small but it felt like it had a good vibe. So first off dinner was not as good. Not much thought put into it, basically mac and cheese. I have now learned the we will not have pasta as part of our rider. With this on it, there is a good chance that we could get that everyday. So I think for a couple of different reasons the club didn't bring that many people in. It was most likely that it was a Tuesday but it might have been that we were in a very small village in the middle of corn fields. It was still a fun gig and we were very excited that the Rock Twins came out to see us. These girls have taken a lot of pictures with a ton of rock stars. They are huge fans and know all the songs on all the CD's. In fact I think I learned some info on RD from them. I wish we could have played a longer set for them but maybe next time. Once again we met some great new people. Talk again tomorrow. L8R. There are just not enough good things that can be said about the fans in Chemnitz. We love playing this town. They always welcome us with open arms. The first initial fans we met here first saw us at the With Full Force festival 2 years ago, which of course for us was legendary. Tonight we are playing at Subway to Peter. A small club that is build down below Peter St. We had been here one time before just to eat when we were on tour with the Bombs. So even then I was hoping that we would play this place one day. It is a very small club and the layout make it a bit tough for people to see but it is that intimate setting that we thrive in. It is almost like playing in a house basement. We have been starting the set with Behind Closed Doors which has really been working good, but by the end of the song I was already soaked with sweat, at song 4 I thought I was going to pass out, and at 6 I said lets just play all night. The crowd was so much fun. It's times like this that you wish it could always be like this. There were times that I played some years ago that I used to dream of being able to do the thing that I get to do now. We look forward to coming back to Chemnitz sooner that later. http://www.subwaytopeter.de/ So yesterday was one of the days that I was really looking forward to. Berlin is one of my favorite cities and luckily we played Wild at Hard. This club is legendary. Stickers in the green room of every punk or psycobilly band that you can think of. The owners of the club are such great people to deal with. They have always treated us good there. When we were on tour with the US Bombs a couple of tours ago this is the club where I was able to see Chip Hanna and the Berlin Three. We had some familiar faces in the crowd, which is always a good sign but there were a great deal of new fans. Our friends Steffen and Julie came out a couple that always makes it out to see us. We sold more merch than thought we would which is what we need. The new fans were letting us know how much they were going to promote us. If any band is wondering what venue to play when you come to Berlin....now you know. http://www.wildatheartberlin.de/ So, we started the day by having to get up and be at the van by 8:00am. That is brutal when you think that you went to bed just a few hours before. It of course is not as bad for us because we can sleep in the van but the 700km drive for Ralf must be hard. So our drive to the festival is as everyone knows routine. Stop get gas, buy a few snacks, take a leak, you know the usual. We arrive at the festival and first find out that we were supposed to be playing at 9:00pm but are now playing at 6:00pm. But by the look of the crowd it didn't seem to be any more people by the end of the night. So this festival was in a small town so the turn out wasn't huge but none the less fun as hell. There were some people that we recognized in the crowd so that is always good. I had received an email a few week ago from a young guy named Tim who is a huge fan and his email had two great parts in it. The first being that we are one of his favorite bands (which rules) but we were also playing with one of his other favorite bands, Itchy Poopskidz. What a crazy name. They had a style like Green Day which it seems that they would have a style more like Weezer or a style where the band plays on more funny situations. We didn't stay for the whole show so maybe it went more that way. The second was that Tim had said, "You guys are going to ROCK the Village!!" How cool was that!! We did, we put a serious beat down of Rock on the Village. Another fun filled day, not much left to say. So the first day of the tour going into Switzerland was great!! We played at a club called The Gaswerk. I think that the prep that we did before tour payed off because we played very well. The sound in the monitor mix was awful. It's just one of those things where you just have to play thought it. Most of the time complaining will just make it worse. As usual the staff at the venue were great and treated us very well. It was RAD being able to hangout with the US Bombs again. What a great band. They really put on a killer show. We are being told that van call is at 8am. That's never good because just when really start to get some good rest it's time to get a move on. We have a bit of a drive tomorrow over 700km and the show is early so it will be a bit harder than most. We asked for this right? Anyway I'm still not sure if anyone is reading if you give me a comment. If there is more info that you would like please tell me. I'm having to learn stuff on my new camera but I will get it soon so that I can put up some video. Tomorrow I will give details on how our first festival show went. Let's get out of town!! So as of now we are sitting in the Philly airport waiting for our plane to leave. This is the point where all of us are very amped to get the tour started. This is now our 4th tour with MAD and I just have a good feeling that this is going to be our best. This is Ruben's first tour with us over there and we are ready to tear it up. We have the day off tomorrow so we will just chill and get our bearings so that when Ralf picks us up on Friday morning we are well and rested for our first gig. We start off in Switzerland and what a beautiful country it is. The only thing that is a bit of a pain is that we have to pay tax on all the merch that we have. We will leave some of it in Germany so that we don't get taxed on everything. Anyway I will keep adding so that people can keep up with what is going on with us.....Until tomorrow....Tye |
